There's a circle in a wilderness area up there, a relatively treeless spot where all the vegetation is dead, a eerie and unpleasant aura suffuses the place, and ayakashi are being attracted to it.

Asking around in the local coastal town will yield eye-rolls, and the mention of a particular 50-something man who works down at the town bar/cafe, who when asked will be eager to show Shun, Kanade and Kotori a shaky video on his phone, which reveals a number of figures in black, hooded robes, chanting. The chant is in archaic and formal Japanese, although it's impossible to tell from the bad audio what's being said outside a few words -- "come," "god," "create."

The video itself is only about 30 seconds long, and ends with the phone apparently being jostled and dropped before it cuts out. He says that a friend of his, a hiker and outdoorswoman, took it and sent it to him, but that she stopped answering his calls or texts that same day and no one has seen her since. He's convinced that it's some kind of creepy Satanic cult and that his friend has probably been turned into a human sacrifice, and will explain his conspiracy theory about undercover local Satanists at great length and with great passion if given even the slightest encouragement to do so. He'll also gladly name names. (They're local kids who are into death metal. They know absolutely nothing about the video, the blighted spot or the disappearance.)
