If you don't have a shinki, you can either opt to continue not having a shinki or the Heavens will assign you a soulless shinki.

Soulless shinki are just that - soulless. They have very minimal personality traits (that you are welcome to decide yourself) and become nothing but tools when called into their vessel form.
